Remanufacturing

Brake caliper remanufacturing technology has improved in leaps and bounds since the early days of the reconditioner. Most notably with the pioneering processes introduced by Brake Engineering as newcomers to the industry back in 1981, since when a combination of more efficient working practices and the complete replacement of all wearing parts with brand new components has resulted in a totally re-engineered product meeting recognised quality standards.

All internal parts are replaced with brand new components including pistons, seals, sliders and circlips, in addition to which the caliper housing is given a corrosion resistance zinc plated finish that falls in line with current EU legislation and is then pressure tested to strict quality guidelines with batch marking being used for essential traceability.

Each piston has an improved anti-corrosion coating and has undergone a 450-hour salt spray resistance test proving their suitability for use in cold climates and each piston has a hardness of 500 vickers. The piston surface finish is also improved and therefore reduces wear on the seals.

All this is carried out in a piston manufacturing facility that offers ISO quality standards and the maximum component stock availability to assist the remanufacturing process. This gives Brake Engineering the advantage of complete control over the quality of all internal components that are built in house resulting in an increase in levels of efficiency and better performance for the caliper.

Lastly and with environmental concerns becoming prevalent across all of our lives, remanufactured products often become the greener solution.
